We are very pleased to welcome Kelti Baird as the Project Coordinator until March 2018! To get to know her better, we asked her some questions: kelti-photo

How long have you lived in Lethbridge?

I have lived in Lethbridge since September 2007 so just over 10 years now. I came here for school and graduated with a BA in History in 2012. After that, I chose to stay in Lethbridge with my friends, and have put roots down in the city. It truly is a wonderful place to live and work.

Why did you choose to work with Environment Lethbridge?

I chose to work at Environment Lethbridge because I love the message the organization sends out and the information it brings to the table. I am hoping to learn a lot about the environment and sustainable practices, to better implement them in my own home and business.

What’s your favourite book?

My favourite book is a toss up between The Raging Quiet by Sherryll Jordan and American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I also really loved Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, 11-22-63 by Stephen King, and anything by Ross King with a particular affinity for Brunellesci’s Dome.

If you were a superhero, what powers would you have?

Shapeshifting is easily the best and most practical power.

If you could back in time, what is one thing you would change?

As a history major, that’s a loaded question. I probably would have warned Martin Luther King Jr. about his assassination. I think the western world would be a lot different if Dr. King had survived the shooting and continued his work. I would have also probably tried to convince Oppenheimer to not complete the Manhattan Project, or at least Truman to not drop the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Again, loaded question.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

We would engage an accountant and lawyer to manage the funds for us (my husband and I), I would pay off the brewery’s debt (Kelti is one of the owners of Theoretically Brewing Company) and continue to work. I really do love working and creating.

Where is your favourite place in Lethbridge?

I really love the Galt Museum & Archives, I spent several years working there and continued as a board member after my position was complete. Aside from the Galt, I spend a lot of my time exploring the parks systems in Lethbridge. We are fortunate to have so many lovely green spaces.

Describe your perfect day?

I am a Medieval Re-creator with the Lethbridge Medieval Club so my perfect day is camping with them. Nothing modern is permitted in the encampment including all your clothes, personal items, bedding, cookware, dining ware, etc. We sit around a fire and eat, drink, and make things. I like working with my hands and enjoy engaging them. Second to that would be cuddling up at home with my husband gaming, watching television, and writing.
