The Earth is projected to warm by another 1.5 °C by 2050. This change in the climate is expected to have varying impacts on temperature, precipitation and extreme weather trends. Locally, water availability is expected to be an increasing concern. Climate change will also impact biodiversity and air quality as well as our health and economy.

Adapting to climate change and building resiliency at the local level will require both planning and action by municipal government and community members. Because of the diversity of possible impacts from climate change, proactive planning can assist in developing an effective response to climate change impacts.

Recommendations:

1. That the City of Lethbridge consider developing a Climate Adaptation Plan to aid in future response to climate change.
